Can't It Just Be Spring?

I sit at my computer today, staring out the window and dreading the coming winter.  Today is windy and cold, with the first flurries of snow in the air.  The forecast is… COLD.  I’m never ready for the cold and snow, and the older I get more inclined I am to be a “snowbird” – Arizona sounds so nice this time of year…

The Flickers have been out in force lately, and Magpies are everywhere.  On Monday I saw a small flock of Hungarian Partridges in the field near my house but didn’t have my camera.  A neighbor says they’ve been there every afternoon so I’ll have to try my luck in the next few days.

The car and the dog kennels have been winterized; not that the dogs stay outside much anymore during the cold months.  I guess it’s my own peace of mind that makes me put up the tarps, set out the electric water dishes and fill their doghouses with straw.  At least if I have to be gone for more than a four or five hours I know they’ll be ok until I get home and can let them back indoors.
